Wardrobe Curation
What?
A wardrobe curation is an evaluation of all items in your wardrobe. It is the first step to achieving your dream wardrobe and detecting what is missing to create it.
Why?
The goal is to curate a functional wardrobe suited to your best colours, silhouettes and style preferences as well as to define any missing pieces. This is done by sorting all items in your wardrobe into keepers, ditchers and fixers. At the end you will be left with a selection of items you truly love and bring out the best in you. Throughout we may detect some items that are missing to complete your wardrobe or that it needs a breath of fresh air. This can always be fixed with a personal shopping service.
What does it mean to have a great wardrobe?
A great wardrobe is one that is suited to you uniquely and will last you a long time. It should empower you to always feel like the best and greatest version of yourself no matter which outfit combination you choose. By being tailored to your personal style, it will enable you to disregard meaningless trends that are not right for you. In short, there are four pillars which make up a great lasting wardrobe: Colour, Silhouettes, Style Preferences and Function.
-
In the colour analysis session you will already have learnt how wearing the right colour is the easiest trick to always look your best. Therefore, having a wardrobe with your best colours will instantly improve it.
-
Bootcut, bell sleeves, boat neck. The silhouette of a garment has a big impact on your overall look and how you feel. By wearing your best silhouettes, you will be able to draw attention to the things you love about yourself and keep items for longer.
-
Your likes, dislikes, inspirations and aspirations will all form your individual style preferences. You may want to look professional, be inspired by 80s power dressing while also loving Scandinavian minimalism. All of this informs the looks your wardrobe should be able to create. If your wardrobe does not match your style preferences, your looks will never feel quite right.
-
Your job and daily activities play a big role in what is right for your wardrobe. If you need to cycle every day to work, a wardrobe full of maxi skirts may not be the best thing. A wardrobe without function may be fun to look at but you will never get to wear it.
When?
To have a great wardrobe, it is important to evaluate it regularly. How do you know it is high time for a wardrobe curation? Here are some common signs:
Your wardrobe is full of clothes, yet, you have nothing to wear.
Your wardrobe is full of clothes, but you only wear a small fraction of it.
You feel nothing works every time you get dressed (i.e. regular morning fashion crisis). You cannot style your wardrobe; nothing mixes and matches.
Your clothes make you feel inadequate and like you should change yourself. Your wardrobe does not feel like a true reflection of you.
Your wardrobe is full of clothes that do not fit. You keep items with the desire to fit into them once you lose weight.
Your wardrobe is functional but lacks personality.
Your wardrobe is dysfunctional and you have no idea what is in it. You grab the first item from the top of the pile.
